The Category Manager develops and implements a buying philosophy, a pricing philosophy and a marketing strategy, develops and maintains vendor relationships, and manages all aspects of their categories.
· Participates in all team activities and decisions
· Selects quality vendors
· Negotiates programs
· Analyzes market research to effectively put the right products in the right stores at the right prices
· Uses information from sales, gross profit and various ad hoc reports to make sure their assigned categories meet established performance targets
· Adds and deletes products in response to industry changes and customer demands. Tests new products and troubleshoots supply chain issues
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
Five to seven years experience, preferably in a retail operations environment
Prior experience in merchandising, purchasing and manufacturing a plus. Strong financial acumen and communication skills
Strong retail foundation, vendor management and analytical skills
